Family Agreements
Family Agreement services help families create clear, legally documented arrangements regarding shared assets, responsibilities, and future decisions.
These agreements can be particularly useful when dealing with property, financial support, caregiving responsibilities, or estate planning matters.
A well structured family agreement helps prevent misunderstandings and disputes by ensuring that everyone involved understands their roles, rights, and expectations. It provides a written framework that promotes transparency, fairness, and long term family harmony.

Divorce
Divorce is now “no-fault” under the Divorce, Dissolution and Separation Act 2020.
You do not need a solicitor to submit a divorce application and we would always recommend clients to file themselves.
Current court fee cost when filing for divorce is £612.
Stages
-
Submit divorce application (online via GOV.UK).
-
20-week reflection period.
-
Apply for Conditional Order.
-
Apply for Final Order (6 weeks later).
You can apply:
-
Individually (sole application), or
-
Together (joint application).

Parental Responsibility
Parental responsibility (PR) means all the rights, duties, powers, responsibilities and authority which by law a parent of a child has in relation to the child and his property.
Someone with PR can make important decisions about the child, including:
-
Where the child lives
-
The child’s education and school choices
-
Medical treatment and healthcare
-
Religious upbringing
-
Applying for a passport and consenting to travel abroad
-
Managing the child’s property or finances
Matrimonial Finances
Navigating the financial aspects of a divorce or separation can often feel overwhelming and highly stressful.
A range of financial orders is available to facilitate either a clean break or the establishment of ongoing maintenance arrangements.
We strongly advise all clients to provide full and transparent financial disclosure using Form E (29 pages) before entering into any agreement, ensuring that any settlement is fair, informed, and legally robust.

Child Arrangement Order (CAO)
A Child Arrangements Order (CAO) is a court order that decides where a child lives and who they spend time with when parents or guardians cannot agree.
If mediation fails, an application can be made using Form C100 through the HM Courts & Tribunals Service. The courts primary concern will be the welfare of the child and as a result will refer to the Welfare checklist.
Consent Order
A consent order turns a mutual agreement by both parties, into a court approved legal order. Once approved by a judge, it is legally binding.
Often referred in matriomonial matters along with the D81 and Form A although consent orders are used also for CAO.

Grandparents Rights
Grandparents in the UK have specific but limited legal rights when it comes to children. These rights are mainly about contact, not automatic custody.
The law aims to balance the child’s welfare with parental responsibility.
Injunctions
In family law proceedings there are generally two principal types of injunction that may be available depending upon the circumstances:
-
Non-Molestation Orders (Domestic Abuse)
-
Occupation Orders (Home Occupation)
Both injunctions can be applied for directly or with the support and expertise of a Lloyd Legal Solicitor
